EASY Fonts In Cricut Design Space. Inkscape Tutorial

Hello, I am going to attempt to teach you how to use all your pretty fonts in Cricut Design Space without the hassle.  Design space is so user friendly and it is by far the easiest software to use with a cutting machine, The fonts however are a NIGHTMARE. I am a font addict, I buy fonts EVERYDAY and download lots of free fonts. I have far to much.  When I started out on Cricut I got many free fonts from Dafont , Yet when I installed them and used them in Design Space it looked nothing like the font I actually downloaded. I had to adjust them all every time. bellow is an example. The red is the way I want my font to look. The text in green shows how far off Design Space displays System Fonts. I had to learn how to sort this as I wanted it to be exactly the way it is meant to be.  I downloaded  Inkscape  which is free and tried to figure it out. This is what I do....... Step 1 Select the A option to create a text. Just Click the A (highlighted in yellow)and then

Small Crafting Space

Craft Room Blues   I do not have a craft room, I craft in a small section of my kitchen. It is a nightmare!!! I know I am not alone and there are lots of Crafters in the same boat.  Trying to find crafting supplies is impossible for me as I have no organisation at all...Thanks to Ikea though, this is slowly changing, SLOWLY Ikea has a number of  Storage Units  that you can purchase to help you better organize your craft area regardless of its size. Search Pinterest for the latest craft room ideas .  Pegboard  I have seen lots of pegboard ideas on Pinterest but  they seemed quite expensive on Amazon and Ebay. IKEA saves the day again! Various different  Pegboards starting from just £8 I bought the larger one and I was a little overwhelmed in store as I had no idea what accessories to buy along with it. Once I had the board up I was kicking myself as I had not bought all the accessories but I was so impressed with the pegboard that I then went online and purc

DIY Wedding and crafting

I stumbled upon the Cricut brand 7 years ago when I was trying to figure out a way of creating my very own wedding invitations.  When I was planning my wedding, I wanted to add my own touch and make it more personal. I searched online for DIY Invitations, DIY Aisle Runner, Button Holes, Paper Flowers anything wedding related! Every tutorial I looked at always mentioned Cricut and the tutorials that did not mention Cricut did not look as good, s o I had to check it out. I  needed to know exactly what it did, I went on to YouTube and watched video's of them making so many lovely projects. I then checked the price and due to the wedding I could not afford to get it as it was quite pricey considering I was trying to do a budget wedding. In the end I  designed my own wedding invitations, table plan, button holes, and so much more, and they all turned out lovely and I received so many compliments. I was even approached by wedding magazines to have my wedding featured!!!! ( I

My Trusty Glue Gun

Gifted Dremel Glue Gun The Dremel GlueGun 930 allow you to glue on both conventional and heat sensitive materials thanks to the dual temperature settings which are combined with high and low temperature sticks. The included coloured and transparent glue sticks provide creative experience for making original crafts. From light gluing jobs to ornament sculpting, precise decorating of jars to mould making and embossing. Work on various tasks without spilling the glue on the project thanks to its drip-controlled precision tip. I can confirm that the above statement taken from Dremel’s description is accurate, I have always purchased the cheaper glue guns and they have never been up to much, I didn’t realise just how bad they actually were until I used this gun. I never read the instructions, just inserted the glue stick and plugged it in. I sat for 10 minutes thinking that the gun was broken. With all my other glue guns the glue would normally start spewing out the no

Disastrous Flowers

Well I decided that it would be a good idea to try and take my mind off things and finally finish the flowers. It was a disaster I am not great with rolling them and the finish was not as perfect as I would have liked so I decided against using rolled flowers   Everything is a learning experience and I’m convinced that I am not alone when it comes to HATING rolled flowers. I never see blogs about how people struggle with projects it’s always documented on how easy everything is to make. But remember the people making these videos and blogs have probably struggled a great deal when they started out also. Do not get disheartened if you are struggling to get the flowers looking perfect. Practice practice practice. I am however still determined to pull off this floral sign and document it on this blog. Hopefully as I progress on this blog I will look back on this moment and it will be a reminder that we all started out the same way and that it is important never to forget that.
