EASY Fonts In Cricut Design Space. Inkscape Tutorial

Hello, I am going to attempt to teach you how to use all your pretty fonts in Cricut Design Space without the hassle.

Design space is so user friendly and it is by far the easiest software to use with a cutting machine, The fonts however are a NIGHTMARE. I am a font addict, I buy fonts EVERYDAY and download lots of free fonts. I have far to much.

When I started out on Cricut I got many free fonts from Dafont, Yet when I installed them and used them in Design Space it looked nothing like the font I actually downloaded. I had to adjust them all every time. bellow is an example.
The red is the way I want my font to look.

The text in green shows how far off Design Space displays System Fonts. I had to learn how to sort this as I wanted it to be exactly the way it is meant to be.

I downloaded Inkscape which is free and tried to figure it out. This is what I do.......

Step 1 Select the A option to create a text. Just Click the A (highlighted in yellow)and then click on the page DO NOT create a text box.

Step 2. Once text is created, select the arrow option

Step 3. your text box should now be shown with arrows. To resize with both width and height in proportion make sure that the padlocked is locked and then adjust size to suit.

Step 4. Next click on Path and select Object to Path.
Click file and save as (remembering were you saved it to, always nice to have a folder on your desktop for text SVG's)

Step 5. Now go to Design Space and Upload Image.I sometimes get a message telling me that the items are not supported,(this is because I have created a text box) regardless of the message I hit continue, and then save.

Step 6. Once image is loaded into Design Space I adjust and then use the weld button to ensure everything is smooth and no text is overlapping.
Step 7. Cut, Score, Print or Draw.

It really is that simple and quick to go. I only ever create text in this way. I suffer from very shaky hands so trying to line up text with my mouse and keyboard makes it very difficult for me.

I really hope I have explained this properly and that others are able to benefit from this. It's a game changer for me.

I buy lots of pretty fonts from Fontbundles every time that they release them, They come with LOTS of fonts and a commercial licence ">

HTV ON BLINDS TUTORIAL

Brain wave!!!! OK I know I am not alone. I sat staring at my blinds for months wondering if I will ruin them If I put HTV on them. I am using Cricut to cut out a design I purchased and edited years ago.  Im also using vinyl from  GmCrafts (Click Here) .  I have old blinds (not only are they old but they were cheap as chips) that I am going to experiment with you can pick one up from Argos, B&M's or Harry Corry's.  I would advise at this point to only use a blind you are prepared to ruin and not one that you have paid over £300 for.   This is the design I used, you can find something similar on Etsy. Or If you are subscribed to Cricut Access then you can design your own  (here is a basic example)  Just search for music notes and swirls and experiment. I cut the vinyl on Glitter Iron On setting and it cut and weeded perfectly. Weed It Out Ready To Rock Normally Metallic or Holographic HTV is so tempera...

Using FontLab Pad To Create PERFECT text in Cricut Design Space

There is a quicker and easier way to create text in Design Space Using FONTSLAB PAD Download  fontlab-pad  you will be asked to send your email address and then you will receive the link.  Design space does NOT display the fonts they way that the designer intended it to be, the spacing is very very frustrating and it takes a lot of time trying to get the text aligned properly.  I have all my font folders on my Desktop as it makes it so much easier to access. To do this just right click on your desktop and create new folder, The folder I am going to chose is Font Bundles Top Fonts  I downloaded some folder Icons. . Now go to  www.Dafont.com  and download MF I Love Glitter (for personal use ONLY) Please remember this is for personal use only and you will require a licence if you intend to sell anything with this font on it. Once the file is downloaded, extract it to your newly created folder. ...
