Hello, I am going to attempt to teach you how to use all your pretty fonts in Cricut Design Space without the hassle.
Design space is so user friendly and it is by far the easiest software to use with a cutting machine, The fonts however are a NIGHTMARE. I am a font addict, I buy fonts EVERYDAY and download lots of free fonts. I have far to much.
When I started out on Cricut I got many free fonts from Dafont, Yet when I installed them and used them in Design Space it looked nothing like the font I actually downloaded. I had to adjust them all every time. bellow is an example.
The red is the way I want my font to look. |
The text in green shows how far off Design Space displays System Fonts. I had to learn how to sort this as I wanted it to be exactly the way it is meant to be.
I downloaded Inkscape which is free and tried to figure it out. This is what I do.......
Step 1 Select the A option to create a text. Just Click the A (highlighted in yellow)and then click on the page DO NOT create a text box.
Step 4. Next click on Path and select Object to Path.
Click file and save as (remembering were you saved it to, always nice to have a folder on your desktop for text SVG's)
Step 5. Now go to Design Space and Upload Image.I sometimes get a message telling me that the items are not supported,(this is because I have created a text box) regardless of the message I hit continue, and then save.
Step 6. Once image is loaded into Design Space I adjust and then use the weld button to ensure everything is smooth and no text is overlapping.
Step 7. Cut, Score, Print or Draw.
It really is that simple and quick to go. I only ever create text in this way. I suffer from very shaky hands so trying to line up text with my mouse and keyboard makes it very difficult for me.
I really hope I have explained this properly and that others are able to benefit from this. It's a game changer for me.
I buy lots of pretty fonts from Fontbundles every time that they release them, They come with LOTS of fonts and a commercial licence
