HTV ON BLINDS TUTORIAL

Brain wave!!!!

OK I know I am not alone. I sat staring at my blinds for months wondering if I will ruin them If I put HTV on them.

I am using Cricut to cut out a design I purchased and edited years ago.

Im also using vinyl from GmCrafts (Click Here)

I have old blinds (not only are they old but they were cheap as chips) that I am going to experiment with you can pick one up from Argos, B&M's or Harry Corry's.

I would advise at this point to only use a blind you are prepared to ruin and not one that you have paid over £300 for.

This is the design I used, you can find something similar on Etsy. Or If you are subscribed to Cricut Access then you can design your own (here is a basic example) Just search for music notes and swirls and experiment. I cut the vinyl on Glitter Iron On setting and it cut and weeded perfectly.

Weed It Out

Ready To Rock
Normally Metallic or Holographic HTV is so temperamental and is a nightmare to cut and weed. When cut on this setting it just cut so perfectly on both the Air2 and The Maker. So I will be adding that to my list of favourites.

Now comes the petrifying part. Honest you would think it was a £300 blind.... SO after I done all the weeding it was time to transfer it to the blind. I Use a Cricut Easy Press which can be purchased here > Easypress (if you use the code HFBCGKC you get 30% off anything if you are a new member).

I pressed for around 12 seconds and removed the transfer paper and covered the design with a Teflon sheet and pressed again for around 3 seconds. It turned out great BUT be aware that if you over press it you will loose some of the stiffness of the blind.

I only paid pennies for these blinds and they really were fit for the bin but the HTV brought a little life  back into them  I took them apart and resprayed the eyelets to gold, I also sprayed the back of them with Fabric Stiffener to add some more strength. I am delighted with the outcome. I will buy some more blinds that are better quality now that I know it works.

So if you have any old blinds that you are going to throw out, give this a try first. I still would not recommend doing it with an expensive blind. But this would be great for kids room.

Flower Power 🥴 Cricut

Well, where do I start? Flowers, rolled flowers, layered flowers and felt flowers any flowers for that matter I hate them.😭 We see so many of the beautiful flowers  postsed on Facebook and some have even completed an entire wall full of the most beautiful flowers you have ever seen and it’s all done with cardstock! So after seeing lots of posts saying “not bad for my first attempt”  and the pictures looking like they have plucked it straight out Beachgrove garden I thought I can do that! I logged into Cricut Design Space and as I am subscribed to Cricut Acsess I selected the purple image bellow I was only messing around to see if I could actually produce anything that resembles a flower and duplicated only 4 petals to test it out. I made each petal a little smaller then cut. I used cheap card bought from Poundland and cut it on the cardboard + setting. I was really surprised by the results and I was now on mission to cut more. I tried the rolled flowers befo...

Thoughts on the Foil Quill

My thoughts on the Foil Quill Using Cricut I have had the quill now for a few months. I am not an avid crafter so I have not used it to create a card Ive only tested it on various materials. I like to try out things that not alot of people are making. I just love experimenting! Foiling on Gloss Vinyl  I decided to foil on some gloss vinyl and purchased this design as I thought it was super CUTE!!! click here to purchase design I tried to tape the foil down best that I could but as per usual it came loose whilst foiling :(   I am using Heat Reactive Foil/Hot Stamping Foil. Please do not get confused with Toner Reactive Foils as this WILL NOT WORK.  I used the Pink Pen tool for the thinnest line. Remember to let it heat up for about 5 minutes before using. I really am impressed with the outcome. SUPER CUTE!!! So next was to try it on Matt Vinyl, Using the same method as above. Again it turned out great!!! So now I was f...

EASY Fonts In Cricut Design Space. Inkscape Tutorial

Hello, I am going to attempt to teach you how to use all your pretty fonts in Cricut Design Space without the hassle.  Design space is so user friendly and it is by far the easiest software to use with a cutting machine, The fonts however are a NIGHTMARE. I am a font addict, I buy fonts EVERYDAY and download lots of free fonts. I have far to much.  When I started out on Cricut I got many free fonts from Dafont , Yet when I installed them and used them in Design Space it looked nothing like the font I actually downloaded. I had to adjust them all every time. bellow is an example. The red is the way I want my font to look. The text in green shows how far off Design Space displays System Fonts. I had to learn how to sort this as I wanted it to be exactly the way it is meant to be.  I downloaded  Inkscape  which is free and tried to figure it out. This is what I do....... Step 1 Select the A option to create a text. Just Click the A (highli...
